ADC Participates in U.S. Navy Tour in San Diego
On August 18-22, 2008, ADC Executive Assistant & Project Coordinator, Mariam Habhab, participated in the U.S. Navy’s Educator Orientation Visit (EOV) in San Diego, California. The overall aim of the tour was to create a method of communication between the U.S. Navy and Educators from the Michigan region, in an effort to enhance understanding and provide information about the Navy. The orientation included a tour of surface ships, air assets, submarines and special warfare commands in San Diego.
ADC Kids Club Participates in FBI Youth Academy Program
On Thursday, August 21, 2008, members of the ADC Michigan Kids Club attended a Youth Academy Program hosted by the Detroit Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The program is designed to promote an educational experience for youth by providing them with a greater understanding about the FBI’s mission. Students who attended the day-long event participated in hands-on activities and listened to case presentations that further explained how the FBI addresses concerns of the community.
ADC Participates in Police Foundation Conference on Immigration Enforcement
On August 21-22, 2008, ADC National Executive Director, Kareem Shora and Regional Director/Senior National Advisor, Imad Hamad, participated in a conference entitled “The Role of Local Police: Striking a Balance Between Immigration Enforcement and Civil Liberties,” in Washington, D.C. The conference, organized by The Police Foundation, focused on issues related to undocumented citizens and featured panelists from various fields including government, education, and law enforcement. Shora participated as a speaker addressing community perspectives on immigration enforcement by local police. The two-day event included over 200 law enforcement leaders, policy makers, scholars, and community leaders who participated in focused discussions.
