Former United States Congresswoman, Mary Rose Oakar, has been appointed by DNC Chairman Howard Dean to Chair the Rules Committee for the 2008 Democratic National Convention.  She will be joined by former Governor David Walters and Ms. Sunita Leeds.  The DNC Convention will be held in Denver, CO, from August 25 through August 28th.  The Rules Committee for the DNC Convention will establish the procedural rules under which the Convention will operate, and nominate the permanent officers of the Convention.  These recommendations are made to ensure that the Convention can efficiently and effectively proceed with important business, including the nomination of the Democratic Candidate for President.  The Rules Committee will present its report on the Rules of the Convention, Monday, August 25, 2008.
Congresswoman Oakar represented Greater Cleveland, Ohio for 16 years in the United States Congress, and is currently National President of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC).
