Wednesday, 30 July 2008 |
On August 15, 2008 local Arab-American actors, actresses, and comedians will take the stage at the Ford Community and Performance Arts Center in efforts to humanize the Arab experience. The evening includes sketch comedy and short film, written, produced, directed, and performed by Arab-Americans. “As a community oriented company, we are proud to be the presenter of this festival which has been designed to break down barriers and demystify stereotypes surrounding Arab-Americans” Sonny Mandouh, Co-Producer of the show. The festival features an ensemble of local actors, including Dearborn’s own Brian Mosallam. The Saturday Night Live-inspired sketches range in theme from “Samia’s Cup”, a coffee shop that dares to only sell Arabic ahewah (coffee) to an Arab-American woman and her white husband hosting her very traditional Arab family for dinner in “Living It Up,” a sequel to one of last years favorite sketches. The evening will also feature a short film spoof similar to last years award-winning short “CRIBZ.”Friday, August 15h at 7pm eighteen actors will take the stage to make a full house laugh and think about life in America from an Arab-American perspective. “The show promises to be accessible to both Arabs and Non-Arabs alike; our hope it to show Arab American culture for all of its richness, beauty, and hilarity.” Mike Mosallam, Producer & Artistic Director of the show. For more information please visit our official site at http://www.mizna.tv ; to purchase tickets, please call the box office at 313.943.2354.
