On Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29, 2008, the National Association of Yemeni-Americans (NAYA) held its 2nd Annual Community Symposium and Awards Banquet at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dearborn. The two-day event featured panel discussions on issues including: immigration, education, business, and economics. The symposium hosted various local, national, and international speakers, and featured an art exhibit and entertainment. ADC Michigan Regional Director and Senior National Advisor, Imad Hamad and ADC Michigan Advisory Board Chairman, Atty. Nabih Ayad, were featured on a panel about the Patriot Act, Immigration Laws, and Civil Rights. The two day event concluded with a Gala Banquet on Sunday night, which featured H.E. Abdullah M. Al-Saidi, Yemini Ambassador to the United Nations, as the keynote speaker and H.E. Dr. Huda Al-Ban, Minister of Human Rights of the Republic of Yemen, ADC Michigan congratulates Mr. Azzam Elder, Ms. Barbara Farah, Mr. Jim Stokes, Mr. Rasheed Alnozini and Mr. Jamal Badaani, all of whom were awarded at the Banquet.
