Hi, my name is Patty and I work with international teenagers coming to the US for an exchange program. We work with two special scholarship groups: the FLEX program, which brings students here from the former Soviet Union, and the YES program, which focuses on students from parts of Africa and from the countries of the Middle East.
These students have won their scholarships over hundreds of other young men and women and are truly future leaders.
I still have a number of students who need to be placed with American host families. The students arrive this August but placements must be secured for them by July 3. They will be here for the 2008-09 school year.
We have students coming from Lebanon, Israel, the West Bank, Jordan, Palestine, Kuwait, Yemen, Qatar and many other countries. Our YES student perform many hours of community service, offer presentations on their country to various groups and attend meetings with other YES scholars to learn about democracy, diversity and enterprise.
