Public Television explores the post-9/11 emergence of Muslim and Arab American comedians on Mother’s Day, May 11, with Stand Up: Muslim-American Comics Come of Age. Featured performers are Ahmed Ahmed, Dean Obeidallah, Tissa Hami, Ashar Usman and Maysoon Zayid. The special is part of the acclaimed PBS series. Then, on Wednesday evenings beginning June 4, the Sundance Channel offers the 12-part documentary series On the Road in America, which follows four young Arabs as they travel across the U.S. This series was originally broadcast in the Arab World, with the goal of facilitating cross-cultural understanding.
