The Muslim Public Affairs Council today announced that actor Adhir Kalyan, who plays a Pakistani Muslim teenager on the groundbreaking new CW sitcom "Aliens in America", will be a speaker during the youth program of the 7th annual convention this Saturday, December 15 at the Long Beach Convention Center.

Kalyan, who plays "Raja", will participate in an 11:00 a.m. panel discussion with MPAC Communications Director Edina Lekovic, who has served as a consultant on the show.

"Aliens in America" centers around a midwestern family who agree to host an international student with the hope that it will help her nerdy son, Justin, become more popular. But when the foreign student turns out to be Raja, a Pakistani Muslim, the Tolchuck family worries that they've invited a potential terrorist into their home. Only Raja's sweetness and idealism force them to reconsider, and Raja becomes the moral center of the family as the season progresses.

MPAC's Hollywood Bureau has served as a consultant on the show since last fall, when the show was picked up by The CW Network. A half-hour situation comedy from CBS Paramount Network Television for The CW, "Aliens in America" airs on Mondays at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

The MPAC Convention Youth Program will also feature sessions on "Growing Up Muslim American", "Dealing with Difficult Issues", and "Getting Ready to Make a Difference". Plus, youth will get a chance to have fun at the arcade and bowling alley!
