DHS Assistant Secretary to Keynote Judges Night Reception

ADC Michigan is pleased to announce that Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Julie Myers will give the keynote address at its 6th Annual Judges Night Reception on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at 5:30 PM at the Bint Jebail Cultural Center (6220 Miller Rd.) in Dearborn.
This year’s award recipients are United States District Court Magistrate Charles Binder and Wayne County Circuit Court Judge David Allen. These Judges are being recognized for their honorable commitment to civil liberties in their courtrooms. ADC is pleased to honor such distinguished members of the bench. In addition, the event will feature a number of elected and federal officials.
The purpose of ADC’s Judges Night Reception, which is an annual event, is to recognize and honor local judges whose work in upholding civil rights has been exemplary. In recent years, this annual event has attracted prestigious members of the U.S. judiciary and honored award recipients including: Hon. Chris Dingell, Third Circuit Court; Hon. Arthur Tarnow, US District Court; Hon. Kathleen McCarthy, Third Circuit Court; Hon. Victoria A. Roberts, U.S. District Court; Hon. Edward M. Thomas, Wayne County Circuit Court; Hon. Mary Beth Kelly, Chief Judge, Wayne County Circuit Court, Hon. Marianne O. Battani, U.S. District Court; Hon. Avern Cohen, U.S. District Court; Hon. Steven Pepe, Magistrate, U.S. District Court; Hon. Margie Braxton, Wayne County Circuit Court; Hon. Leo Foran, Dearborn Heights District Court, and Hon. George Caram Steeh, U.S. District Court.
The event will include dinner, along with an award’s presentation, and is by invitation only.
