The Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, initiated by the Department of State and under compliance with the Immigration Act of 1990, Section 131, will accept applications for its ‘Diversity Visa Lottery Program’ on Wednesday, October 3, 2007. The aim of the diversity program is to provide ‘diverse immigrants’ from countries that have low rates of immigration to the U.S., a chance of obtaining a Diversity visa. Each year, 55,000 Diversity Visas are made available to eligible immigrants from specific countries. Selectees for visas are chosen through a random lottery drawing that is computer generated. Applications may only be submitted online and the last day of application acceptance will be Sunday, December 2, 2007 at 12:00pm.
