Today, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) was represented by Communications ImageDirector Laila Al-Qatami at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Representatives from the Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund (SALDEF), and the South Asian American Leaders for Tomorrow (SAALT) were also present.
The panel discussion was moderated by EEOC Commissioner Stuart J. Ishimaru and 30 representatives from EEOC field offices were present for the briefings and the question and answer session. Al-Qatami discussed workplace discrimination issues the Arab and Muslim American community faces. Using case examples reported directly to ADC, Al-Qatami thanked the EEOC for working to resolve numerous employment claims filed by community members. She also presented recommendations for EEOC to use in its outreach to the community. Learn more about the EEOC at: http://www.eeoc.gov/ .
