Arabesque Dance Co. Bellydance - Inta Omri
excerpt from Arabesque's perfomance DVD "Asala" and set to one of the most celebrated pieces of Arabic music, which was originally sung by Egypt's greatest singer Oum Kalthoum and composed by Egypt's greatest composer Abdel Wahab. This 25 minute performance by Arabesque Dance Company, choreographed by Yasmina Ramzy, uses a wide range of dance vocabulary from traditional Raqs Sharqi. 12 female dancers weave in and out of the stage depicting the 11 different moods of the song. The choreography reveals the deep and multi layered emotion of an all-encompassing love. Its scope spans the spiritual and ethereal, the raw vulnerability, sweet tenderness, unbearable longing and blissful elation.
