Dear members of the Syrian, Lebanese, American Clubs of Florida (SLACFL), Your board has been working very hard to encourage the growth of our organization and to maintain our scholarship and cultural objectives. PLEASE see the attachment that outlines our plans for an upcoming family weekend in St Augustine Beach Octo-ber 1-3, 2010. Naturally, without your support we can not succeed. Our objective is to have a state-wide gathe...ring that will be more relaxed than a convention and less expensive for families - especially as we want to reach the younger generation. They are the ones who will be responsible for carrying on our traditions and culture. We plan to have a gathering on Friday night the 1st at a president's reception with mezzas and a glass of wine. We may also have an optional BarbQ Friday evening depending on the numbers who sign up to attend. This would be an additional cost per plate but very reasonable. On Saturday, you will be free to visit historic St Augustine, play on the beach, shop at the outlet mall or in town, or generally hangout with old and new friends. . The Club house will be open all day with coffee, ice tea, and cards and games as well as Bingo and if enough children & good weather -a sandcastle contest on the beach and/or possibly some "Beach Olympics".. Saturday night will be a Middle Eastern meal of kibbee, taboulie,hummus,etc. served casually.. We plan to have enter-tainment, and for sure have fun doing the Debkeh! We will send everyone off with a Continental Breakfast on Sunday morn-ing. Please give this some thought and plan to join us in St Augustine Beach and bring lots of family and friends... This is a wonder-ful opportunity to get together with family and friends and get to know others from around the state. It is so important that our children get to know each other and continue to be exposed to their wonderful cultural heritage. We hope that all will be sup-portive of the efforts of the state organization to keep everyone connected through communication and events while continuing to strengthen our scholarship program for our students. Our parents and grandparents instilled in us a commitment to the next gen-eration. It is our responsibility to pass on to them an awareness of their culture, respect for and pride in their roots, and to demonstrate to them how we value education by continuing to enhance our scholarship program. Please check out the attached. We have secured very good rates and the food and the company will be excellent! The lo-cation is easy to get to and the 2 bedroom condos allow you to share with another couple, bring the entire family, bring the grand-children, etc.. You may go online to choose your condo or call the 800 number. You must indicate that you are with the MACKOUL SLAC FAMILY REUNION in order to get our brochure rates. Remember that spaces for Saturday night's Debkeh party are limited due to the size of the room so get in your registration ASAP.
